Lecture schedule

The first lecture will take place on Monday, July 8 at 9 a.m. The last lecture will finish on Friday, July 19 at 11.30 a.m. Lectures take place each morning except on Sunday 14, one session from 9 a.m. to 10.30 a.m. and another from 10.45 a.m. to 12.15 p.m. (on friday 19 lectures will start and end earlier for participant to catch our return shuttle, see section "How to come to Saint-Flour" below).

Short lectures

Besides courses, participants of the School are invited to give a short lecture (35 minutes) about their research work. These communications are held in the beginning of the afternoon and after dinner. We would like as many participants as possible, especially young researchers, to give a lecture. Blackboards and a beamer will be available for the lectures.

Note to members of CNRS

The school is organised jointly with CNRS (French National Center for Scientific Research), and the registration of members of CNRS (researchers or students) is paid for by CNRS. .

Les agents CNRS (chargés de recherche, directeurs de recherche, ou boursiers) n'auront pas à régler de frais d'inscription et de séjour, ceux-ci étant pris en charge par la Formation Permanente du CNRS dans le cadre du budget de l'école. Cependant, les frais de transport resteront à la charge de la délégation d'appartenance du participant. Si vous êtes concernés, lors du choix du tarif sur le formulaire d'inscription, veuillez choisir "CNRS".

Rates 2018

• Standard room: common shower and toilet at the same floor.
• Comfort room: shower in the room; most of these rooms (but not all) also have toilets.

The rate includes the participation to the summer school, the accommodation and the meals at the "Hotel des Planchettes" where the lectures take place. Participants with academic and normal rates are accomodated in single comfort rooms. Participants with student rates are accomodated in double rooms in the category of their choice (student on comfort).

• The student rates can only be granted to PhD students (send an attestation of your adviser).
• The academic rate is open to academics (includes University staff, Phd students, Postdocs, but not CNRS staff).
• The normal rate is applied to other participants.

These rates cannot be reduced, even in case of partial attendance. We cannot provide any financial support for the travel expenses.

Notice that only a limited number of rooms is available within each category/rate. In case of late registration, we may have (especially for students) to propose a different category/rate than the one you requested.

Accommodation

The "Hotel des Planchettes" (an ancient Roman Catholic Seminary) dates from the 18th century. It has a shaded yard and a car park.

Family accommodation can be provided and should be paid directly to the Hotel des Planchettes during the stay.

We would like to draw the attention of families to the fact that the Hotel des Planchettes is not a holiday centre nor the Summer School a place of leisure. We will do everything we can to facilitate the accommodation of families, but we do ask each family to be reasonable considering the moderate accommodation fees.

Accommodation is provided from Sunday, July 07 before the evening meal to friday, July 19 before lunch.

Documentation

It is not possible to bring to Saint-Flour all the mathematics library from Clermont-Ferrand. Participants will find at Saint-Flour, for consultation, a copy of all references which have been communicated by the lecturers. Participants are asked to bring to Saint-Flour all books and articles needed by them during the school.

How to come to Saint-Flour

The City of Saint-Flour is decomposed into a Lower Town ("Ville Basse") and an Upper Town ("Ville Haute"), and the Hotel des Planchettes is on the slope between them. You can look at the Tourism Office web site.

By train: Saint-Flour can be accessed via Clermont-Ferrand. In Paris, trains to Clermont-Ferrand leave from Gare de Bercy. From Clermont-Ferrand, Saint-Flour is accessible by SNCF regional trains and coaches. Some coaches have an additional stop (called "les allées") in the upper town, which is closer to the Hotel des Planchettes.

By air: Clermont-Ferrand airport has regular flights to Paris CDG, Paris Orly, Lyon, Nice, Amsterdam, London Stansted, Porto. See also the Air France. From the airport, the railway station is accessible by city buses or regional TER trains (train stop "Aulnat Aéroport" on the line Clermont-Fd-Thiers-St-Etienne)

By coach: Clermont-Ferrand is connected to Lyon, Paris and other main cities by the following companies: Flixbus and Ouibus.

By car: Saint-Flour is on the A75 motorway (Clermont-Ferrand - Béziers) 100 km south of Clermont-Ferrand. The access to the "rue des Planchettes" is from the road between the lower and upper towns.

A shuttle will be organized in the afternoon of July 07th (around 5.30-6 pm) to take participants from Clermont-Ferrand railway station and airport to the conference center. A return shuttle will depart from the conference center around 11:30 on July 19th.

If you cannot take our shuttle, you can use the following regional trains and coaches :

• from Clermont-Ferrand to St-Flour (Train schedule, SNCF website),
• from Clermont-Ferrand airport to city center / railway station (Bus map, Bus schedule)
